Lands SIM-free on 20 January for £342

When the phone was officially launched back in November, RIM promised us the BlackBerry Bold 9790 just after the
new year. Well, it looks like that promise is about to come true.
Although some networks have made vague noises about stocking the smartphone, online retailer Clove is the first
to come forward with any concrete details. According to Clove's site,
the BlackBerry Bold 9790 will land on 20 January (a week off), selling SIM-free for £342 including VAT.

If that date is correct, we would expect the networks to follow soon after with contract deals. So far,
O2 and Orange have confirmed they will be stocking the handset, although, as yet, neither has come
forward with a price of date for availability.

When it does land, the Bold 9790, which is an updated, thinner version of the popular Bold 9780,
will feature both a touchscreen and QWERTY access, with BlackBerry OS 7 for the operating system and BBM,
push email, a full version of Documents to Go, a 5-megapixel camera and an NFC chip finishing off the main features.

If you want it, you know where to go SIM-free. If you want a contract, sit tight and wait, it's not going to be
long now.
